Iran hanged five convicted drug smugglers on Wednesday, Iranian media reported, the latest in a series of executions since authorities launched a crackdown on "immoral behaviour" last year.
Three men were publicly executed in the holy city of Qom, south of the capital Tehran, the official IRNA news agency said.
Two others were hanged in the southeastern city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchestan province, notorious for clashes between security forces and smugglers, the state broadcaster reported.
"The death sentence for these (three) people was issued by Qom's Islamic revolutionary court ... and was carried out this morning," Qom judiciary official Hoda Tarshizi said.
"These criminals had a background in drug smuggling and had served time in jail but they continued with their criminal activities after they were released," she said.

Police found in a property he had sub-let about 250,000 ecstasy tablets, 26 lbs of MDMA - the powder used to make the drug - as well as drug-making equipment and £40,000 in cash during the raids.
But District Court judge Colin Charteris found Barton had only a "belated" and limited role in the supply of the ecstasy tablets.
“The fact the defendant is descended from a hero of the 20th century does not affect the sentence I must impose," said Justice Charteris, adding that it "was of historical importance only".

Marc Doro, a French national, was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday and 1.2 kg of hashish was recovered from him.
"Doro was detained after found moving suspiciously inside the terminal area. During his frisking narcotics was recovered from him," said a security official.
Doro had come to the airport to catch a Fin Air flight to Helsinki.
In a separate incident, an Indonesians woman was arrested Sunday at the domestic airport while trying to smuggle 705 grams of heroin to Mumbai.
The accused was identified as Irma Handyani and had an Indonesian passport.

James Welch, 19, of Colbert, Georgia, during a late-night traffic stop December 22. Stopped for speeding at 81 m.p.h. in a 45 zone on the North Bypass, Welch was arrested and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution of a controlled substance; and with speeding. He was released December 26 on $25,500 bond.

Shawnte Beckham, Tanisha Carleston, Michael Corbett, Marisabel Corbett, Marie Lafond

Michael Corbett, 38, his wife, Marisabel, 26, and another woman, Marie Lafond, 20, saying they were growing marijuana and selling cocaine with children present, arrest affidavits state.
Michael Corbett was being held at Orient Road Jail this morning, with bail set at $15,500. His wife and Lafond also were being held, and bail for each was set at $8,000 bail, jail records show.
All five people also are charged with felony drug charges.
About 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, a Tampa police officer on foot tapped on the driver's side window of a 1997 Buick at North Tampa and East Tyler streets after smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, affidavits state.
When Beckham rolled down the window, a "smoke cloud" drifted out of the car, the affidavits state. There was an 8-year-old girl in the rear seat, police said.
The officer found a small plastic bag of marijuana and a plastic pill bottle containing oxycodone inside the car, as well as a brown paper bag with six small plastic bags of marijuana inside Beckham's purse, police said.
About 7 p.m. Wednesday, deputies conducted a search warrant at a house at 7328 Exeter Way, where the Corbetts and Lafond live, the affidavits state. They found cocaine packaged for sale, marijuana being grown in a bedroom and marijuana pipes in the kitchen and bedroom, the affidavits state.Tampa police on Wednesday arrested Tanisha Carleston, 28, and Shawnte Beckham, 29, both of Tampa, during a traffic stop in which they found an 8-year-old child and marijuana in their car, affidavits state. The women were being held without bail at Orient Road Jail this morning.

Jose Baez, 26, died from acute cocaine intoxication.Baez went into a medical emergency about 10:30 p.m. as deputy Justin Debode spoke with him about an alleged domestic assault against his girlfriend, Elizabeth Barclay.Baez died after slumping over during police questioning Saturday had five times a lethal amount of cocaine in his system when he went into a seizure, authorities said today.
Debode responded to the couple's Hidden Valley apartment, near Five Mile Road and East Beltline Avenue NE, and Baez was cooperative while talking about accusations that he fought with Barclay and damaged her car Thursday night.Baez sat in the back of a patrol cruiser and became incoherent after seizing and slumping over on his side on the seat. An ambulance arrived about five minutes later and took the suspect to Spectrum Health Butterworth campus, where he was pronounced dead.
Kent County Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Cohle said today the man had a high level of the drug in his system.Police were unsure how Baez ingested the cocaine, but Stelma believes it was moments before he submitted to questioning.

Social inquiry reports and medical information indicated that Ramoon was mentally impaired, while McFarlane was mentally ill.
McFarlane, 21, was of normal functioning, the magistrate summarised. But he had been diagnosed as manic–depressive; when depressed he got upset and violent.
He was before the court for assault causing actual bodily harm in addition to two charges of supplying cocaine to an undercover police officer.
The supply took place on two successive days in September 2005. Both times the officer paid McFarlane $25 for a rock quantity at a location in East End. McFarlane pleaded guilty.
She said two things concerned her – McFarlane’s mental illness that needed to be treated and his propensity for violence. Local hospital facilities were not appropriate for his situation.
For other charges, including the assault and a failure to provide a specimen, the magistrate imposed concurrent sentences.For offences involving the taking of 17 lobsters on one day, being more than the limit of five and during closed season, the sentence was six months consecutive.
Ramoon, also 21, had pleaded not guilty of possession of cocaine with intent to supply. Police officers testified that they saw him place a small object in the gas tank area of a vehicle parked outside a bar. After speaking to him about it they recovered the object, which proved to contain cocaine.The magistrate found him guilty.

Olayemi Olawunmi Olajumoke

Olayemi Olawunmi Olajumoke, 37 years, was arrested on December 29 at about 2 p.m. during the screening of passengers on Emirate Airline flight to Bombay in India.
According to the public affairs officer of NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, the cocaine was carefully concealed in the inner lining of a skirt inside her luggage.
Olajumoke, who hails from Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State, lives at No. 30, Ogundele Street Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos. She claimed to have been given the drug by one Akin whom she said was introduced to her by a Nigerian she met in India who called to tell her that one Akin will give her a parcel to deliver to him.
“Akin called me at the airport and gave me the clothes inside black polythene bag which I immediately kept in my armpit. I later kept it in my luggage. During search, it was discovered to contain cocaine. I did not know that it contains hard drug,” she said.

Paul K. Dmitrinski, 19, of 17 Brookview Drive, was arrested after a party on Nov. 23 at 11:27 p.m. on charges of facilitating a drug/underage alcohol house party and violating bail conditions set by Superior Court in September that apparently stem from drug arrests for allegedly selling ecstasy.
On Dec. 26, Dmitrinski was given a Feb. 4 trial date to face the charges pertaining to the drinking party. He was free on $2,500 personal recognizance bail. As part of bail conditions he is to refrain from alcohol and drugs and associating with anyone under 21 who is using alcohol and must comply with a 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.
In October, Dmitrinski was indicted on four felony drug charges stemming from an undercover investigation last summer. There are three indictments on sale of a controlled drug, ecstasy, and one indictment for possession of a controlled drug, ecstasy.

Johnathan Wade Smith

Johnathan Wade Smith, 21, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in morphine and hydrocodone, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana and violation of probation.

Umi Azlim (Update) Internet job advertisement scam.

Umi Azlim, 24, a Universiti Malaysia Sabah graduate in Biological Science, was detained at Shantou airport on Jan 29 after immigration officers found 2.98kg of heroin on her. Umi Azlim is among 37 Malaysians convicted of or awaiting trial for drug-related offences in China.
She was given the death sentence in May and is not allowed to appeal for two years.
Mohamad Lazim Jusoh, a mechanic with Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON), from Kota Baru, and wife Umi Slaia Ibrahim, a goreng pisang seller were allowed to visit their 23-year-old eldest daughter on Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Shantou Detention Camp.
According to the father, Umi Azlim was lured by an Internet job advertisement that offered high income for sending goods overseas.
“Her job was to send goods overseas like an international courier,” he said.

Arturo Sanchez

Arturo Sanchez, and he was arrested for bootlegging. When they got him down to the jail, he was found to have over two grams of powder cocaine in his possession.”
Sanchez, 57, was found to be in the United States illegally, and an immigration hold was placed on him. His bonds were set at $15,000 for possession of a controlled substance and $2,500 for bootlegging.
Officers were later dispatched to the East Texas Medical Center regarding a gunshot wound — which was determined to have occurred at the Button Bush location.
“There appears to have been a verbal argument at the residence between two Hispanic males in reference to one of them owing the other money. One of the suspects went outside, grabbed a rifle and came back with it into the residence,” Franklin said. “A struggle ensued over the rifle and it went off, accidentally shooting somebody in the hand.”
According to Franklin, the victim and the other residents in the building were very uncooperative.

Romero, 29, allegedly sold about one-quarter ounce of cocaine. The task force recovered the cocaine and about one-quarter ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and approximately $620 in cash.
San Luis Valley authorities have arrested Adrian William Romero, a Denver resident, on suspicion of selling cocaine. The arrest was the result of an undercover operation conducted by an agent of the San Luis Valley Drug Task Force. The agent and Conejos County Sheriff deputies made the arrest in Conejos County .

Playa Flamingo

National Police were tipped off by the US and Costa Rican marine patrollers in the northwestern Guanacaste province that there was a suspicious boat off the coast of Playa Flamingo.
Upon seeing the authorities on their way, the boat crew threw all of its cargo overboard, set fire to the boat, and ran towards the mountains. Despite all of these efforts, the crew was caught and six 20 kilogram packages of cocaine were found floating out at sea.
The National Police spotted the packages high out at sea and were the ones that followed the trails of candy wrappers and plastic bottles high into the mountains to catch these drug traffickers. The Columbian men were found in a rocky area with a GPS device, satellite phone, cash, machete, suitcases, their passports, and a bag of provisions. All five were arrested and ordered six months in preventative detention

4.6 tons of marijuana by the U.S. Coast Guard

The seizure of about 4.6 tons of marijuana by the U.S. Coast Guard just before Christmas on Dec. 22 marked a new record for Costa Rica. An old ship toting the valuable cargo was found off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica near Panama on its way from Colombia with an estimated $106 million in marijuana. Nobody was arrested in this incident as the crew abandoned the ship and could not be found. The drugs are now awaiting destruction by police officials in Heredia.
In a second drug bust just before the end of the year, about 15,000 marijuana plants were uprooted in Talamanca, on the southern Caribbean coast. These plants are destined to meet a similar end.
The year end totals show that about 63 people were arrested per day through 2007 for drug related activity. The majority of these were small offenses with less than 400 people being arrested for actually dealing drugs. This number includes 94 foreigners.
Authorities from the Drug Control agency noted that a large number of tips came in from outside the agency to help bring the drug dealers to justice.

Rondell Freeman, alleged member of the Gangster Disciples, was arrested as part of a joint investigation by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Chicago police and the IRS, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
Freeman allegedly headed up a high-volume drug organization that controlled much of the crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana sales in the Cabrini Green Homes at 714 W. Division St. According to the criminal complaint, his trafficking organization operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week and brought in a minimum of $8,500 per day.
Freeman, aka "Fall" and "Nightfall," 31, of Chicago and other Gangster Disciples -- a total of 16 were being sought by ATF and IRS agents -- were charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine in a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday, according to the release. They were to appear in U.S. District Court at 2 p.m. before U.S.The alleged co-conspirators supplied Freeman with drugs, helped prepare and package drugs, sold drugs, collected and counted money, and served as lookouts for police, the affidavit alleges. They include Robert Freeman, Clint Linzy, Terrence Sewell, Brian Wilbourn, Robert Freeman, Senecca Williams, Reginald Booker, Syble Mcclutchey, Daniel Hill, Lance Olden, Deshawn Simmons, Marcell Thomas, Darnell Williams and Demarquius Williams

Zackre Montague said he was offered J$200,000 to fetch cocaine and agreed to do the job because he was in desperate need of the money. He pleaded guilty to trafficking in narcotics. He was later sentenced to three years in prison and fined GYD$10,000(USD$49). Montague checked in his suitcase on a Caribbean Airlines flight to Jamaica via Port of Spain.Massiah said CANU officers who were on duty noticed that Montague was acting in a suspicious manner at the internal scanner and approached him.

Based on his response to their questions, Massiah said, he was taken to the external scanner where he was asked to point out his suitcase. He pointed out a black suitcase to the officers who, on checking the interior, discovered two tins. They were searched and the cocaine was found.

Reggie Peters,was angry at himself for using crack cocaine after 15 months of abstinence,he shot through a wall at the West Oakland duplex he managed, the bullet striking and killing Bobby Jones in an adjacent room, police said.
Peters, 37, who lives in San Francisco and at the Oakland duplex, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the killing of the 50-year-old Jones, whom he considered a friend and who he tried to help after the shooting, Basa said.
The shooting happened about 6:44 p.m. Sunday at the duplex in the 800 block of 37th Street. It was the fourth fatal shooting since late Saturday night in Oakland and brought the homicide count for 2007 to 126.
Police said Jones was with some relatives and friends in his apartment and they had been socializing most of the day. Jones was in a bedroom when he was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, surrounded by family members, police said.

Ulysses Jones, 45, will appear in court in January, according to a release from Sheriff Chuck Arnold.
Jones, of 422 South Hall St. in Kenton, was arrested last Friday. Jones has been charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to deliver, attempted introduction of a contraband into a penal facility and driving on a revoked or suspended license, the release said.
Jones is presently being held in the Crockett County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Jan. 15 in Gibson County General Sessions Court in Trenton, the release said.
Jones has worked as a correctional officer for Gibson County since September 2006, the release said.

Kristi Jo Guess confessed to taking the pain medication after she was confronted by authorities with videos of her opening packages.
She is scheduled to be sentenced by federal Judge Curtis Collier on April 3. Guess could also be ordered to pay a fine of up to $250,000.

Bulgarian police arrested four people and seized 60 kilograms (132 pounds) of heroin found hidden in a car at a border crossing, authorities said yesterday. The drugs, stashed in 116 packages, were found early yesterday in a secret compartment in the floor of a Bulgarian car crossing the border from Turkey, customs said in a statement. Police arrested the 41-year-old Bulgarian driver and three passengers, who included a customs official that police believe organized the smuggling operation. A Serb national, allegedly the head of the group, was also arrested in the southern city of Stara Zagora, police said yesterday. (AP)

Police arrested three men at homes in Lidcombe and Homebush, where they found the drugs as well as three firearms, a silencer, ammunition and magazines, precursor chemicals allegedly used in the manufacture of illegal drugs, and a number of MDMA tablets.
All three were charged with possession of prohibited drugs and/or firearm offences.
The arrests followed a joint operation involving officers from New South Wales and South Australia yesterday which resulted in the arrest and charging of two men and a woman at Adelaide Airport. Have been charged in relation to the seizure of cocaine and ice with an estimated street value of $1.3 million.
Drugs with an estimated street value of $700,000 were allegedly detected in the luggage of a female passenger travelling on a flight from Sydney.

Twenty people have been banned from visiting NSW prisons

Twenty people have been banned from visiting NSW prisons and some could face criminal charges following a crackdown on jail contraband.
It's alleged the visitors tried to smuggle in weapons, drugs, cash and mobile phones.
Justice Minister John Hatzistergos says they don't want to limit visits, but to make sure the prisons remain safe.
“It’s important to sustain them whilst they’re in custody, particularly over the holiday period and also to assist them in maintaining their relationships to support them following release.”

Drug smugglers used couriers to smuggle cocaine into Canada in religious books during the Christmas period have been smashed by customs officers at Pearson airport.
Two drug mules were arrested in separate incidents this month after more than $850,000 in drugs were found in holy books packed in luggage entering the country on flights from the Caribbean, Customs officials confirmed. A 21-year-old visitor from Barbados was arrested after four kilograms of coke worth $550,000 was found in the binding of a Bible and other books. Another 21-year-old man, who claimed to be visiting from St. Vincent, was arrested a day later arriving from Guyana with 2.5 kilos of coke worth about $310,000 inside a Bible and in the false bottom of a suitcase.

Air Canada members of the Hells Angels Connection

Police believe the drugs originated in Mexico and that investigators were looking at a "strong link" to B.C. members of the Hells Angels.Air Canada spokesman John Reber confirmed that an airline employee has been suspended.Drug trafficking through the airports was so problematic then that airport seizures accounted for 92 per cent of the heroin, 90 per cent of the ecstasy, 40 per cent of the cocaine and 40 per cent of the liquid hashish seized in Canada in 2002, the report noted.
Border agency officers at YVR seized 54 kg of cocaine on a flight from Mexico in September. The drugs were packed in four suitcases.
Another 50 kg of cocaine was found in two suitcases on a flight from Mexico in 2006.
Officers also seized two kilos of heroin at the airport in 2006, arrested one man trying to fly 20 kilos of marijuana to Ontario in 2004 and arrested two men trying to smuggle 65,000 ecstasy pills into Canada from Europe in March 2003.
Border agency officials at the airport seized 19 kilos of opium in three shipments in 2003.

Agents arrested Rolando Equihua-Estrella inside the house. All three are suspected of drug trafficking.Federal drug agents have three people in custody for their alleged possession of 46 pounds of cocaine and $14,000 in cash that investigators believe to be the proceeds of drug sales, court records show.
On Dec. 28, state police troopers arrested Javier Esquivel-Guerra and his wife, Patricia Esquivel-Guerra, after they allegedly were found with 11 pounds of the drug in the dashboard of a car in Livonia.
That prompted a search of their 124th Avenue house in Allegan County's Clyde Township the next day. Inside the residence, authorities allegedly discovered 33 pounds of cocaine in a kitchen cabinet and another two pounds in the laundry room.

Kenneth Baker

Kenneth Baker, of the 6200 block of 12th Street Court East, who goes by the name “Dro,” sold an undercover officer crack for $100.
As Baker was being searched, authorities say they found a baggie of leafy material that field tested as marijuana in the suspect’s front pants pocket.
Baker was arrested on charges of sale of cocaine as well as possession of coke, pot and paraphernalia.

A Belington man Mac Arthur Dingess is finally behind bars for selling crack cocaine after a three year long investigation.Sheriff Departments from three different counties all came together to bring down 65 year old Mac Arthur Dingess.
On Saturday, Dingess was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.
Authorities from Barbour, Taylor and Tucker Counties were able to search his home after he sold crack to a confidential informant earlier this month.

Mark Anthony Eggerson

Mark Anthony Eggerson , 23, of Utica, Minn., was booked into Winona County Jail on Friday after police allege he sold cocaine in a controlled buy. Prior to that, he’d been there for a litany of charges, including drunken driving and selling cocaine .
Eggerson was charged Monday with four felonies that allege he sold cocaine to a police informant on four occasions in the past three months. The most serious of those charges carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. He was also charged with a lesser felony possession charge and obstructing the legal process by resisting an officer.
According to police and court documents, police arrested Eggerson on Friday afternoon immediately following a controlled buy in the parking lot of a restaurant on Center Street. At about 1:15 p.m., a Winona narcotics investigator stood inside the entrance of the restaurant overlooking the parking lot, where a police informant waited for Eggerson to sell her cocaine.Eggerson also sold 0.27 grams of crack cocaine to a police informant on Oct. 30. The transaction took place in a vacant apartment in the 600 block of East Fifth Street while a police officer hid in one of the apartment’s bedrooms. The apartment is located near the Hope Lutheran High School, which aggravates the charge.
On Nov. 19, an informant purchased 1.04 grams of crack-cocaine from Eggerson near another restaurant on Center Street. On Dec. 27, an informant bought 0.69 grams of cocaine in Eggerson’s driveway in Utica, court records allege
According to the criminal complaint, Eggerson was seen getting into the informant’s car, sold her 0.85 grams of cocaine for $100 and returned to the restaurant about two minutes later. When he opened the door, the investigator was waiting:

John Irizarry

John Irizarry, 44, of Schenectady, N.Y., and Leonard Rios, 37, of Brooklyn were arrested about 1:50 a.m. Saturday. State troopers working out of the Haverstraw barracks stopped them on traffic violations and found various drugs in the vehicle, police said. The two were driving a red 2003 Chevrolet minivan and heading northbound on the Thruway in Clarkstown when they were stopped. A subsequent investigation revealed the two had about two ounces of cocaine, one ounce of heroin and a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. Both were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies. Irizarry, the driver, also was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony; driving while ability impaired with drugs, a misdemeanor; an unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Both men were arraigned Saturday morning in Clarkstown Town Court. Rios was committed to county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, and Irizarry was committed on no bail.

Patrick Toal

Patrick Toal, 20, of New City was arrested about 12:05 a.m. Saturday. He was stopped for a traffic violation while driving westbound on Route 202 in Haverstraw and was discovered with various drugs in his possession, police said. Following the stop, troopers from the Haverstraw barracks found about 2.5 grams of Psilocybin, commonly known as hallucinogenic mushrooms, 33 Vicodin tablets, a digital scale and a small quantity of marijuana. Toal was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies; second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was arraigned Saturday morning and released after posting $1,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Thursday in Haverstraw Town Court.

Justin Rouse

Justin Rouse, 19, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. State troopers from the Haverstraw barracks stopped the vehicle he was in for a traffic violation and found more than 1.5 ounces of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, police said. Rouse was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court yesterday morning and was committed to county jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Rouse was a passenger in Michael Ramos' red 2002 Dodge sedan, which was traveling northbound on the New York State Thruway in Clarkstown when troopers stopped it. Ramos, 25, of Fort Edward, N.Y., was issued two traffic citations and an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana. He was released to appear in Town Court at a later date.

Elizabeth A. Watts, 29, was arrested on a Pulaski Circuit Court warrant. She was lodged in the Pulaski Detention Center on a $5,000/10 percent bond.

Tina S. Dye, 40, of Janlyn Drive, Somerset, had originally received probation on a first-degree, first-offense drug trafficking charge.

Trenda S. Brumley

Trenda S. Brumley, 38, of Harvey Street, Nancy, was cited for second-degree possession of a controlled substance and for possession of a controlled substance not in a proper container.

Pamela M. Jones

Pamela M. Jones, 29, of WTLO Road, Somerset, was cited for possession of marijuana, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance not in a proper container and operating on a suspended driver’s license.

Jeffery L. Hudson

Jeffery L. Hudson, 45, of Dry Branch Road, was charged with trafficking.

Vertrees Brown

Vertrees Brown, 61, of Breezy Hill Drive, was charged with two counts of trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Budimir Kujović

The leader of the gang, Serbian citizen Budimir Kujović, considered a major drug trafficker in the Balkans. He was said to have been involved in several drug laboratories and trafficking rings arrested in Bulgaria aged 39, was detained on December 30 in Plovdiv. He resisted arrest and a policeman was injured in the fight.

The group included three Bulgarians, aged between 41 and 53. One of the Bulgarians was a former custom officer, who provided unimpeded border crossing of the deliveries.Police seized various identity documents from the arrested.

The leader of the defendants was Henry Polanco, who dealt with the drug suppliers in the Dominican Republic, according to the complaint.
He used employees from Delta, American Airlines and food-services company Aramark to help smuggle the drugs into the United States, the complaint says.
The charges are a result of a two-year investigation, during which federal agents found 46 kilograms (101 pounds) of cocaine, 25 kilograms (55 pounds) of heroin and 3 kilograms (6 pounds) of MDMA (ecstasy), according to a Justice Department news release.

Umi Azlim Mohamad Lazim sentenced to death

Umi Azlim Mohamad Lazim has been sentenced to death by the Guangzhou High Court in China for trafficking in 2,983 grammes of heroin.Her mother, Umi Slaia Ibrahim, 45, said the family who did not get any news from her for one year and were shocked to receive a letter dated July 12 from Wisma Putra that her daughter was being held in China since Jan 19. She was sentened to death on May 15 and has two years from the date of conviction to lodge an appeal.We did not hear from her for months and suddenly we received news that she was held in China and has been sentenced to death. This is so distressing."I was told the drugs were received in Bangkok and to be given to a Nigerian known as 'UG' on her arrival at Shantou," Umi Slaia said at her home at Kampung Tok Kamis here Monday.The drugs were found hidden in her luggage on arrival at Shantou.Umi Azlim is a University Malaysian graduate.

Man has been arrested following the death of Kevin Greening

A man has been arrested following the death of radio presenter Kevin Greening.The man, in his 50s, was held at the address in Wandsworth, south London, where Greening's body was found.
He has been questioned on suspicion of possessing and intending to supply Class A drugs, and has been bailed until March.
